Estrada Real - Royal Trail
Back in Brazil´s Colony times, this route know as the Royal Trail linked the State of Minas Gerais to the sea, and it went from Diamantina town to the beaches of Paratí town. It passed the gold dig from Minas Gerais, as well as great goods that came from Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, helping create the Civilization of the Gold.
Many of the persons that made the mining history passed through this trail, the most famous was Joaquim Jose da Silva Xavier, also know as "Tiradentes" (teethpuller).
The Royal Trail refers to the trails traveled and explored by the pioneers since gold was discovered in Minas Gerais State, until the gold run out.
Traveling in this trail is a travel through history, a back in to time walk to the period of the cattle dealers, the time when gold was sprouted in the ground.
All the places touched by this trail, hide cultural and historical treasures, nature at it´s best, and the memory of all those men and women that looked for a space to produce goods, built a life and made a mark in history.
Along the Royal Trail you will find the Waterfall of the Crystals, Acurui Village, Rosario´s Church with it´s Baroque art and Mountain of Espinhaço, where a native flower called Bromelia grows. Natural pools of crystalline water, Serro Town, and listen to the incredible tales from the people that lived back in those days, giving you an incredible insight. The adventure begins!
