Porto Alegre

Porto_alegre Porto Alegre is the capital city of Rio Grande do Sul, one of the largest cities in Brazil, and for being a political, economical and cultural center, is one of the most important cities too. It is located at a delta formed by 5 rivers, known as Guaíba Lake, and the city was officially established in 1809. One of the wealthiest cities in Latin America, with a great cultural diversity, with immigrants from all over the world, making this city a great place to visit and explore.

Novo Hamburgo

Novo_hamburgo Novo Hamburgo is a city in the state of Rio Grande do Sul and is one of 13 charming cities on the Romantic Route, like Gramado and Canela. The city boasts a great historical and architectural heritage, like the Igreja Nossa Senhora da Piedade (Our Lady of Piety's Church), just to name one of the many eclectic and neo classical constructions.

Canela

Caracolcanela Canela is the sister town of Gramado, and it is also an important tourist resort and part of the Romantic Route. Ecotourism in Canela is very popular, with many places in the area great for hiking, rock climbing, horseback riding, rafting, etc. Its main attraction is the Parque do Caracol (Park of the Snail) and the Cascata do Caracol (Snail Falls). It is a very beautiful place, and I have to say, the food is a tourist attraction on its own!

Gramado

Gramado Gramado is a small town in Caxias do Sul, a Germanesque region, full of mountains and with the majority of its inhabitants of German origins. This town it's among the list of towns of the Romantic Route of Brazil, and part of the scenic Region of Hydrangeas route.
Visit the Lago Negro, a beautiful lake area surrounded by hydrangeas and trees, the Aleia do Papai Noel (Santa's Village), 365 days of Christmas here, with Santa's House and many other attractions; and please, do not miss the chocolate! There are several chocolate stores in Gramado, and it is delicious!

Palácio do Planalto

Palaciodoplanalto The Palácio do Planalto (Planalto Palace) is the President of Brazil's official workplace, situated at the Square of the Three Powers, and it is the seat of the government. Besides the President, the Vice President and the Chieff of Staff have their offices here. Oscar Niemeyer is the architect behind this construction, a 4 stories building of fine lines and waves, using simplicity and modernity.

Praça dos Três Poderes

3poderes Praça dos Três Poderes or Square of the Three Powers is a square in Brasilia which name comes from the encounter of the three powers around the square; Executive power, represented by the presidential office Palácio do Planalto; Legislative power, represented by the National Congress Congresso Nacional; and the Judiciary power, represented by the Pálacio da Justiça (Palace of Justice).

Cathedral of Brasilia

Cathedral_1The Catedral Metropolitana Nossa Senhora Aparecida is the Cathedral in Brasilia, designed by the artistic architect Oscar Niemeyer, and its construction started in 1958. The building is a circular base of 70m from which 16 towers elevates, with a parabolic shape. The "walls" are actually windows, the entire structure between each tower is made of glass.

TvtowerAt the basis of the Television Tower in Brasilia, there is a huge market with typical food, crafts and other interesting things, and the tower itself it's the best place for a great panorama view of the city. If you can afford it, don't miss the opportunity to take a guided helicopter tour flight, it is an incredible experience and you'll get an incredible view from the surroundings.

Brasilia

Brasilia Brasilia is a planned city inaugurated in 1960 and is the capital of Brazil, located in the Central Highlands. It is a masterpiece of modern architecture and it is listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, attracting people interested in architecture from all around the world. This city's basic structure was completed in 4 years, with the slogan: "fifty years of progress in five", under the leadership of President Juscelino Kubitschek.

Bienal de São Paulo

BiennaleBienal de São Paulo or São Paulo Art Biennial, hosted every 2 years, is a cultural event that draws over a million people, being the second oldest art biennial after the Venice Biennial. The exhibition is held in the Ciccillo Matarazzo pavilion in the Parque do Ibirapuera, and features both Brazilian and international art.
